About Us

CEnet is a not-for-profit services company supporting a large collection of Catholic networks currently connecting school communities across metropolitan, regional and rural New South Wales, Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania and the Northern Territory. CEnet's end-user population extends to some 330,000 users including K-12 students, teachers and administrative staff.

CEnet's Purpose
CEnet's purpose is to connect and support Australian Catholic communities and schools as they integrate information, communication and learning technologies in the provision of contemporary learning and teaching and evangelisation.

CEnet's Key Activity
CEnet's key activity is to design, implement, procure and manage affordable, robust and scalable, standards-based ICT solutions, server and storage infrastructure and application services so as to provide a safe connected online environment for Catholic schools and their communities.

The consortium has harnessed specific telecommunications and application infrastructure and services to deliver an educationally-focused platform which allows for;
  • the creation of secure and filtered Internet access environments;
  • the provision of web-based communication, collaboration tools and learning resources and;
  • the development of authentic online communities
  • a centralised approach to shared ICT services delivery for its members
The architecture has been designed to maximise the benefits of a co-operative joint venture whilst maintaining a high degree of autonomy for individual members.
