Manager, Financial Services

Who we are
CEnet is a not-for-profit shared services Company limited by guarantee. Owned by 17 Catholic Dioceses connecting some 780+ schools and Diocesan communities. CEnet’s user base comprises over 330,000 students, teachers and staff across metropolitan, regional and rural NSW, QLD, TAS, ACT and the NT. A highly collaborative shared services innovator in Catholic Education, CEnet is an agile team delivering on our mission of supporting Members in teaching, learning and organisational development.

About the role
The Manager, Financial Services (MFS) is responsible for providing leadership, direction and management to the finance function at CEnet. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the MFS is involved in all aspects of financial planning, accounting, reporting and compliance. 


What you’ll be doing
The role requires a capacity to work with an operational focus with key duties and responsibilities outlined as follows:
  • Oversee the processing and recording of financial transactions via the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. Also responsible for FMS system administration and development and maintenance of systems of internal control.
  • Meeting the compliance requirements of governmental and other regulatory bodies.
  • Production of financial reports for users to inform, monitor and instigate operational actions to meet organisational objectives.
  • Facilitate the necessary financial resources as required by the organisation and supporting the business in its commercial activities.
  • The management of risk from a compliance, financial and internal control perspective.

How you fit
Ideally, you have:
  • At least 10 years experience in a senior finance role.
  • A relevant degree such as a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics or Business with a major in Accounting. 
  • A CPA or CA qualification. 
  • Strong analytical, numeracy and problem solving skills. 
  • System Administrator level knowledge of TechnologyOne and internal control structures. 
  • An understanding of the mission of Catholic Education. 
  • Previous experience in managing a Finance function, with at least three (3) direct reports. 
  • External audit experience. 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • The ability to build relationships with Service Owners and Leadership Teams.
