Synergy Session 2024

It was great to have technical and education specialists from across our member dioceses collaborate on common themes around Generative AI in education at this week's 2024 Synergy Session!

In a room rich with experience and diverse expertise, we explored the potential opportunities & impacts of Gen AI on systems, process & teaching and learning. Dan Ingvarson shared his recent collaborative work on creating an AI strategy for schools & Alan Ibbett provided a presentation on CEnet's innovative work to provide AI driven tools to support Catholic education. Thanks to both for sharing insights & guidance on best practice & innovations.

It was great to hear from Google's Marie Efstathiou on opportunities and diversity in STEM education & Grace Chung, Head of Google Research Australia on the potential of AI technologies to make progress on challenges from health to climate change. Thank you Marie & Grace for such insightful presentations.

Our sincere thanks to the team at Google Sydney for hosting this event - a fantastic environment for our diocesan teams to collaborate & strategise! Special thanks to Kimberley Hall for facilitating this session & Google's Bettina Fifer, Chris Betcher, Darren Macolino, Harris Kissas and Richard Johnson. It was very much appreciated.

There were so many highlights, including a field trip to Lumination Learning Labs to experience how virtual and augmented reality technology can be used for experiential learning - thanks to the team at Lumination for this opportunity!

A lot of planning goes into these events - a special shout out to Karen Gardiner, Jo Quinlan, Tracey Catling & Nyree Buchanan for your contribution.

We look forward to further collaboration at our next face-to-face conference in September
